Santa Anna Homecoming 2011
Every fall since 1953, Santa Anna High School Alumni have gathered in Santa Anna to participate in the annual Homecoming activities and to keep in touch with former classmates and teachers. All Santa Anna Exes, former teachers and administrators are invited to attend the annual Homecoming activities on Friday, October 7 and the Ex Student’s Association annual meeting on Saturday morning, October 8.
This year the Santa Anna Ex Student Association will be honoring those classes ending in a 1 with special recognition of the SAHS class of 1961 celebrating their 50th year out of school and the Class of 1991 celebrating their 20th year.
This year’s Homecoming Ex Student of the Year from the Class of 1961 is James C. Bible of Coleman. This year’s Coming Home King representing the Class of 1991 is Jeff Hartman of Round Rock, TX.
Friday, October 7 beginning at 2pm the homecoming parade will be held in downtown Santa Anna and the Pep Rally will follow the parade at the Santa Anna Football Field. The pregame ceremonies beginning at 7pm on Friday will recognize the Ex Student of the Year and the Coming Home King.
The game will feature former 11 man rivals, the hometown Santa Anna Mountaineers against the Rising Star Wildcats. All former Mountaineers are encouraged to come out and root for the Mountaineers. The halftime show will feature the crowning of the 2011 Homecoming Queen.
Saturday’s Santa Anna Ex Student Association activities include the annual business meeting and recognition of classes. Registration and coffee begin at 9am in the cafeteria followed by the annual meeting at 10am in the High School auditorium. Following the business meeting will be a BBQ plate lunch served by the Santa Anna Booster Club.
Several reunions are planned for Friday and Saturday.
James C. Bible is the Ex Student of the Year representing the Class of 1961

A long time educator will be honored at the October 7 and 8 Santa Anna Homecoming as the 2011 Ex-Student of the Year. James C. Bible, a graduate of the Class of 1961, will be recognized for the contribution he has made to the education of children.
James is the son of the late Claude and Dorothy Bible. He and his wife Dixie Baugh Bible, have a son, Jamie Joe Bible, and a daughter, Deborah Bible Becker. They have two grandchildren, Kyle and Cole Bible.
James earned a Bachelor of Science from Howard Payne University in 1966. He continued his education at Abilene Christian University earning a Master of Education and Administrative Certification.
JAmes is a member of the Coleman Methodist Church, Texas Association of Community Schools, Texas Association of School Administrators, Phi Delta Kappa, and Coleman Masonic Lodge No. 496. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Concho Educators Federal Credit Union, the Texas Teenage Baseball Association. He also served as President of the American Heart Association in Sonora and President of the Krum Chamber of Commerce.
Glenda Taylor Chance is the Coming Home Queen representing the Class of 1991

Glenda Taylor Chance is the daughter of Elwayne and Shirley Taylor. She is married to Roscoe Chance and they have two sons, Justin and Chad and one grandson Brayden.
Glenda graduated from Santa Anna High School in 1991. While in school she participated in Basketball.
After graduating, Glenda moved to Sweetwater. She worked at Kinsey Printing and Office Supplies for 9 1/2 years, Nolan County Sheriffs Office for 7 years and is currently working at Wal-Mart as an Asset Protection Associate.
Glenda makes her home in Sweetwater, Texas with her husband, two sons and grandson.
Jeff Hartman is the Coming Home King representing the Class of 1991

Jeff is the son of Ronnie Hartman and Leanna Jones. He has one brother, Jeremy, who was a 1988 graduate of Santa Anna. Jeff attended Santa Anna schools from kindergarten to graduation and was the valedictorian of the class of 1991. While in high school, Jeff was a two time state tennis qualifier, an All-district guard for the basketball team, and a member of the SAHS band.
After graduation, Jeff attended Texas Tech University and Howard Payne University. He graduated from HPU with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sport Sciences with a minor in English. While at Howard Payne, Jeff played tennis for the Yellow Jackets and was an All-American candidate and Southwestern Conference singles finalist in 1995. He graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1995.
In 1995-1996, Jeff served as the Head Tennis Coach and Assistant Basketball and Football Coach at Junction High School in Junction, Texas. After that, he moved to Midland, Texas and was Associate Tennis Professional at Midland and Odessa Country Clubs where he received a P2 ranking in the United States Professional Tennis Association.
In 1997, he moved to Pflugerville, Texas to take the Head Tennis Coach position at Pflugerville High School. While at Pflugerville, his teams made school history by being the first ever tennis teams from Pflugerville to qualify for Region. While at Pflugerville, Jeff was a two time District Coach of the Year.
In 2008, Jeff resigned from PHS to pursue two new careers. The first being a full time dad to his new baby daughter Quinn; the second was starting S.M.A.C.K.T.E.C. Tennis, a private tennis foundation in the Round Rock/Pflugerville area where he currently serves as manager and Head Tennis Professional, teaching the sport of tennis to eager elementary, middle school, high school and adult students. In 2010, Jeff received the Lifetime Achievement Award for Coaching from the Pflugerville High School Tennis Team.
Jeff now resides in Round Rock, Texas. He is married to Tanya Roberts, a native of New Zealand, and has four children: Scott, who is a swimmer for Cedar Ridge High School; Rachel, who is a volleyball player for Ridgeview Middle School; Quinn, who is three years old and a future Wimbledon champion; and Jude, a 21 month old who will eventually play rugby for the USA or the New Zealand All Blacks. All are active members of Pflugerville Community Church in Pflugerville, Texas.

SAHS Class of 1951 Celebrates Their 60th
On Saturday morning the 8th of October, we will be attending the Coffee provided by the SAHS Ex-Students Association held at the Elementary School Cafeteria at 9 am. We hope you will meet us there so we can visit a little and organize ourselves into a group so we can be seated together in the auditorium for the program.
After the program in the auditorium, lunch will be served in the Elementary School Cafeteria for a nominal sum and the money benefits one of the school's organizations.
After lunch we will all waddle on over to the Methodist Church Annex where we hope people from other classes will also join us for visiting. We plan to visit as much and as long as we can keep going.
We do hope you can join us in Santa Anna, TX for our 60th on October 8, 2011.

The Class of 1971 will be celebrating 40 years at the Santa Anna Armory Kitchen Area on Saturday Oct 8 beginning at 2 pm for an afternoon of visiting and sharing old memories.
